Baylor vs Duke

Wow! This year the Baylor Bears made it to the Sweet 16, then went on to be in the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament. They played an amazing season and met the Duke Bluedevils here in the South Regional part of the tournament which just happened to be in Houston this year. It could not get any better than this. Caleb's two favorite college basketball teams EVER playing each other right at our back door!

We decided a game like this was worth taking Luke to since this could possibly be a once in a lifetime chance to see these two teams play each other. He really had fun seeing the Baylor Bears! He just didn't understand why the Bluedevils were the "bad guys" in this game.

Oh, did I mention there was cotton candy? That makes the game even MORE fun!

Mom & Luke cheering for the Bears!

The Allen family minus Kailten, Noah, Erin, & Brady. Yaya & Papi are Baylor grads too. What a fun memory to share with family!
The Bears lost the game to Duke 78-71. The whole game was very close and the Bears definately put up a good fight. They have had an awesome season and we can't wait to see them again next season.
Heyyyyyyy Sic 'Em Bears!

The Great Pearland Egg Drop 2010

This year our church hosted our second annual Egg Drop. A helicopter dropped eggs down onto the football field for the kids. It was a huge success and I think everyone had a wonderful time!

Field of eggs! This year we had 100,000 eggs for the kids to hunt!

Luke is ready to gets some eggs!

Brady is tired of waiting. Good thing his age group got to go first.

Brady and his friend Ashton got to hunt together.

My Sick Little Boy...

Is starting to feel a little better.
Last weekend was a rough weekend for Brady. He started off Saturday night with a low grade fever before bed. I gave him Tylenol and put him to sleep. Shortly after that he woke up with a temperature of 104.3. We gave him Motrin and a bath to try to get it down, but neither worked very well. After the advice of the on call doctor, I took him to the Emergency Room.
The ER determined that he had an ear infection and sent him home after helping to get his fever back down. The next morning his fever was back up again! This time 104.8. So, I repeated the things I had done the night before and got in touch with the doctor. I was told to bring him into the office first thing Monday morning so they could run some blood work on him to rule out any infection.
We did the blood work and it all came back clear. So, they determined that this is just a viral infection that we will have to wait out. YUCK! So, three days of high fever and we are waiting to see what tomorrow will bring. Thankfully, tonight he seems to be feeling a little better, but still not fever free.

Easter Centerpiece

Yesterday I saw this cute idea in Better Homes & Gardens for this Easter Centerpiece, so I couldn't wait to try it myself. I am a sucker for willow tree branches and these had little flowers on them...perfect for Spring.
I thought it would be a project the kids could help with, but hot glue guns and kids don't really go hand in hand. Oh well, they baked cookies while I finished working on this.
Happy Spring Everyone!

Rodeo Time in Houston!

Tonight Luke & Brady went to the rodeo with Yaya & Papi!

Luke in the tractor tire...wow that's a big tire!

Brady & Luke got to take turns driving the tractor!

And then...there was lots of food!

The boys got a special treat- their favorite food is sausage. Sausage on a stick...even better! Yaya said both of them ate the whole thing. The messier the better!

Sharing a turkey leg with Papi

Lastly, you can't go to the rodeo with your grandparents without cotton candy, right?

It took Brady a minute to get used to the texture, but Luke jumped right in!

Petting Zoo

Both cowboys were completely wiped out when they got home.

Thank you Yaya & Papi for spending the night with us at the rodeo!

Learning Cutting & Puzzles

Luke's cutting skills have come such a long way! As you can see above, he can now cut his shapes. I traced the shapes for him and he cut and glued them to the paper. Yay Luke! He is so proud of himself too!

Brady is not lacking in the learning department either! While Luke spends his time learning to cut, Brady sits and works on his shapes puzzle. If you notice, he has FINALLY mastered it!!! He kept trying and trying and today he finally got it all by himself! Yay Brady!

Funny Conversation Between Mom & The Boys

It is Caleb's busy season at work, so the boys and I have been eating dinner alone for the past few nights. Here's how our conversation went last night...

Luke: "Batman is my favorite super hero"
"Who is your favorite super hero mommy girl mom?"

Me: "Well, I dont know, that is a good question"
"Who is your favorite super hero mommy Luke?"

Luke: "Mommy! It's you!"

Me: "Brady, who is your favorite super hero mommy?"

Brady: "ew! momma!"

Me: "Brady who is your favorite super hero bubba?"

Brady: "bubba (as he looks at Luke and smiles)"

Classic! We are so glad that Brady can now join in on our conversations!
