Canton...or bust!

First Annual Girls Trip to Canton, TX was amazing! There is no other word for it other than Paradise!

Me, Jodi, & Katie before we went into the market. It was freezing!

Katie's first bargain...this precious little tutu.

Katie & Jodi in front of the Arbors- one of our favorite places.

Jodi bargained with this lady for this basket & got it!

This will probably be the story of the trip...
Jodi had been looking for a bed for her daughter Scarlett. She found this amazing bed for $50! It was a deal way to good to pass up. But how would we get it home? Would her husband care if she bought it since she was ONLY supposed to be buying Christmas presents? Could we cancel our hotel room so we wouldn't have to leave it strapped to the top of my car overnight?
In the above pic- you see her on the phone with her husband trying to get it all figured out.

One of my purchases was this really cool round box which was exactly what I had been looking for to put in my bathroom.

To top it all off...they even had fried pickles!

Yum, yum, yum!

So, we did get the bed strapped to the top of the car. We got our hotel room cancelled & we headed home!

What an amazing trip!

An Alternative to Carving...

A few friends had told me about these little Mr. Pumpkin Head things you could get for your pumpkin. Luke & I had fun making his pumpkin into a pirate this year!

A Day With Peyton

Caleb & I have both been friends with Amanda, Peyton's mom, for over 25 years. This week Amanda & her husband Jared were having a new baby so we got to watch Peyton while they were in the hospital. What a delight she was! I already knew that girls were totally different than boys, but this re-affirmed that!

Luke & Peyton

Peyton getting ready to meet her little sister Camryn Reese.

Brady wouldn't sit still long enough to be in any of the pictures with Luke & Peyton so I took one of him by himself.
Thanks for staying the day with us Peyton- we had lots of fun!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

Pumpkin Cupcakes

1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients it calls for)
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 15oz can pumpkin puree
2 8oz bars cream cheese, room temp
2 cups powdered sugar
24 pieces candy corn

Heat oven to 350. Line muffin tins with paper liners. Prepare cake mix as directed but with the following changes: Add the nutmeg and substitute the puree for the water it calls for.

Divide the batter among the muffin tins and bake 18-22 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.

Meanwhile, using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and sugar until creamy. Spread on the cupcakes and top with candy corn.
Enjoy!

and one more...

Our friends sent me this picture via email so I thought I would add it. Mommy & her sweet boys!

Pearland vs. S. Houston

Before this week's game we tailgated with some of our friends. I am pretty sure we were the only tailgaters in the whole parking lot, but we had a blast.

Mindy took these two pics, I thought they were pretty cool!

Brady wore Luke's shirt from last year with Uncle Sam's number.

Our Family.

Brady had fun playing with the big kids!

Luke had to sqeeze into the only other maroon shirt we had- he didn't mind though- he's got spirit!

Our whole group of tailgaters!

Unlce Sam got to come down for this game, so he stopped by our party! During the game he took Luke down on the field with him which Luke thought was the coolest thing ever.

Fun times with fun friends & the Oilers won the game!

Room Makeover

We decided it was time to redecorate our room since we hadn't changed it all since we got married. It took a while, but I think we are finally done! Here's the finished product...

This is my favorite chair in the entire world. Not because it is anything spectacular, but because it is special to me. I bought it from Salvation Army for $20. I have recovered it 3 times and it has been in 3 different rooms of my house. For now, it has landed in my room!

Up next for redecorating...the bathroom!

A Day At The Park

Today we went out to a park in Alvin since the weather was so nice. There was a duck pond with tons of ducks in it. This was Brady's first time to see ducks so close. He was amazed!

Luke was showing him all of the ducks and Brady was holding onto his hand SOOOO tight!

Then we decided to just sit and watch them swim.

Luke found this really cool duck feather on the ground. He held on to it the whole time we were there.

Then, he showed it to his brother.

When we were about to leave the duck pond Luke picked this beautiful flower for me. Such a sweet boy!

After the duck pond, we discovered this really cool tunnel at the park.

And much much more including a merry go round. Brady & Luke loved riding on the merry go round until Brady fell off and we had to go home :(

Grow Baby Grow...

As a party favor for a friend's birthday party the boys went to a few months back they were given a pot with their name on it, some dirt, and some seeds to plant.
Today we finally got it out and planted the seeds. It was a good learning experience for Luke. Now, he just has to have patience to see if his flower will grow.

Step One: pour the soil into your pot

Step two: push your seed deep into the soil

Step Three: water your seed

Step Four: sit back and watch it grow!
