More Fun Crafts...

As I said a few posts back, I have been blog stalking a few really cool home decorating blogs for about two weeks now and they have inspired me to get in touch with my crafty side. Here are a few things I made this past week...

Valentine heart made from newspaper, buttons, & burlap.

Personalized magnets made from baby food jar lids.

No more guessing whos art is whos on the fridge- Lid magnet to the rescue!

Chalkboard made from an old frame, paint, stain, & chalkboard paint.

and one of my favorites...
Biboo, Caleb's great aunt who just passed away, had given us her family silver set when we got married. I haven't ever used it just because I didnt want to mess it up or lose any of it. I saw this really cool way to display it though. The best part about it is that it reminds me of Biboo every time I see it.
I also saw a tutorial on how to make heart garland out of melted crayons which the kids could help with, but that may have to be for a day when all of the stars are aligned just right and all three boys are on their very best behavior ;)

Brady's New Ears!

For most of Brady's two years of life, he has battled ear infections. We were referred to an Ear Nose & Throat doctor who said it would be best to put tubes in his ears and take out his adnoids to cut down on infections and runny noses. Today was his surgery to have that done. Most people agree that ear tubes make all the difference for children who have ear trouble, so we will see...

We left the house at 5:30am to be at Texas Children's Hospital by 6:00am. When we got there they had a huge play room full of all of Brady's favorite toys- even a mower!

After playing for a little while we were given these special pajamas to wear for surgery. They were nice and comfy too!

The doctors and nurses could not have been any better! Everyone there is so friendly and good with children. They took him back right on time and made things as easy as possible on us. Brady did great and never even got scared. I am thankful to all of the hospital staff for setting him up for success :)

After surgery, we were able to come hold Brady as he woke up. He was pretty out of it for the most part, but I am sure it helped him to have his parents with him.
In the car, he fell right to sleep and slept for most of the morning. Thankfully! When he woke up he was cranky for the rest of the day, so we are hoping to have our normal Brady (with new ears) back tomorrow.

New Fun Projects

Lately I have been stalking these really cool home improvement blogs which have inspired me to be crafty and make some changes in our home. Here are two projects I finished this weekend...

Coffee Filter Wreath

made from brown coffee filters, a glue gun, and a plain wreath...

and the finished product!

Family Rules

I took this old canvas picture, painted over it with spray paint, and stenciled our family rules on it to hang for the boys to be reminded of.

Here's how it turned out...

I also have a few more things up my sleeve, so I will post pics of those when I get those finished.

News Flash...Owen Can Roll Over!

Step One: get onto your side

Step Two: use your leg to give you one good push and you will make it all the way to your tummy!

Step Three: reward yourself by chewing on your fingers ;)

Step Four: stop to pose for a cute picture for mommy

Step Five: take one more with your proud Bubba!
Yay Owen! We knew you could do it!
Note to mom:
These pajamas probably won't make it through another baby boy...

Owen- 4 Months

Our sweet little Baby Owen turned four months old on December 31, 2010. He is growing so fast I can hardly believe it!

Aunt Leigh sent this cute elf hat so we had to take a few 4 month pics with it...darling!

One bad thing about turning 4 months old is shots :(
I took Owen last week for his check up and he got 6 shots, which was not fun but he did ok.
Here is his four month old info:
14lbs 6 oz
25.25 inches long
What has he accomplished in the last two months you may ask?

- he can now grab things! (as you can see, that pacifier is still his favorite thing in the world)
- he sleeps all naps and nights in his bed
- he is now a full 4oz bottle drinker...slowly moving to 5 ounces
- almost rolling over
- sitting up with only a little assistance
Happy 4 month birthday our sweet Owen! Mommy, Daddy, and your Bubbas sure do enjoy watching you grow!

Brady- A Year in Review

Brady Charles Allen
Nickname- "B-ball"
Age- 2
When you grow up you might be- something that has to do with motors, you love lawn mowers, blowers, weed eaters, vacuum cleaners. you like to know about how they work too which is cool!
Your strengths- you are mr. personalitly. most people love you at first sight because you are a people person. you love to give hugs & kisses (even to strangers). you are strong willed and seem to be a leader.
Your weaknesses- sometimes you are so strong willed that you don't respect authority.
Highlights from this year- 2nd year of mother's day out, becoming a big brother to owen, 2nd birthday party
Accomplishments from this year- doing better sleeping through the night, really good at doing puzzles, getting better with your coloring, can take off your clothes and learning how to get yourself dressed with help
Interests and Hobbies-

TOY STORY!!! You are really in love with Toy Story movies and characters. You like to have them in your bed when you go to sleep and you enjoy watching the movies as often as we let you. Other interests are mowing, riding your new big wheel, wearing daddy's boots, playing with bubba, playing with ashton from church.
Brady,
My sweet sweet baby! You love to show you care by hugging & kissing, which makes my day! You have a strong personality and we are working with you on this to use it to be a strength. I love how you are a leader and you have never met a stranger.
This year has brought a lot of changes for you with becoming a big brother. I am so proud of the way you have handled the change so far. You never got angry or jealous and have loved Owen 100% from day one. Even though you can be a little rough with him sometimes, you are learning how to be gentle and I know he knows you love him.
Luke adores you too...even though it may not always seem that way. When you are napping he is always asking when you will be awake and he misses you when you are gone.
Daddy loves when you try to work out with him and do the same workouts in your own way. I love the time we get together when it is just the two of us. You are such a smart boy. I can't wait to see you grow more this year.
love ya,
mommy

Someone turned 30...

and it was me.

I am still not to sure how I feel about being 30 now. First of all, I can't complain. God has blessed me with an amazing husband and three really cool little boys. I have a very happy life full of genuine friends and loving family. So, what is there to be sad about? I have come to the conclusion that I spend way to much time worried about things I can't change. It is my choice to try to stay positive and look at the bright side.
All that to say...30 isn't so bad!

Shame on me though- I had three birthday dinners and all I took was this ONE picture. This was from a night we went out while my brother & sister in law were in town.
Anyway...Happy Birthday to me!
