Batman & Robin

Batman jumping off the "pirate ship"

Robin as he watches in awe...

Around here everything pertains to Batman in some way, shape, or form. Today as I looked out the back door the top picture is what I saw. YIKES!

After that took place, Luke came up and said, " Mommy, I shouldn't jump off the fort unless I have my Batman cape on." What do I say to that? I could just see us with a broken arm on the next jump. So I did what any good mother would do and grabbed my camera so I could get a picture of that! Bad me!!!

Brady Smells Like a Girl...

Yesterday I got Brady dressed and decided to put a little baby lotion on him. A few minutes later Luke ran into the kitchen and said "Mom! Brady smells like a girl!!!!". I couldn't help but laugh because he was so serious and so worried about it. I told him it wasn't a girl smell, just a baby smell. He said "No, it's a girl smell, get it off".
Super cute!

Erin & Noah's Couple's Shower

The Happy Couple!

Luke & Uncle Nonah in matching shirts.

One of many nice gifts they got at the shower.

I thought this was a cute picture of Erin!

We all are so excited to have "EE" join the Allen family on June 27th. This weekend we had a couple's shower for her and Uncle "Nonah".

Luke is going to be the "ring bear" in the wedding. He has been practicing and getting really good at it. We just need to work on getting him to not throw the pillow at the end of the isle...

I can't wait until the big day!!!

Cowboys Don't Fly

For those of you who listen to country music you may know a song by Brooks & Dunn called 'Cowgirls Dont Cry'. If you havent ever heard this song it is on my playlist so you need to listen to it.
Anyway- Luke loves this song, but thinks it says "Cowboys Don't Fly". It is the funniest thing to hear him song his little heart out saying the wrong words...

Tonight he added a verse "Hutball (football) Players Dont Fly". I heard him singing that while he was playing with his blocks. I just couldnt help but laugh.

Recipe

A few folks have asked for the recipe for the pie I posted yesterday. I can't take credit for it- I just found it in a book I had. It was pretty easy though. Here it is...

Easy Strawberry Pie

1 1/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup water 1 (3ounce pkg) strawberry gelatin
2 cup fresh strawberries, cut up
1 baked 9 inch pie crust

Combine the sugar, cornstarch, and water in a saucepan over low heat and cook until clear, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add the dry gelatin mix, stirring until dissolved. Cool until mixture is slightly thickened. Stir in the strawberries. Pour into the pie shell. Chill covered until firm. Garnish with whipped topping.

The Fruit Of Our Labor

After bringing home a HUGE box of strawberries from yesterday- I had to think of what to do with all of them. So, I made a pie and froze two bags for later use.

The pie was yummy with whip cream on top!

Pickin' Strawberries

This morning we met our sweet friends Jodi & Scarlett at Froberg's in Alvin for some berry pickin'!

The kids picked, & picked, & picked!

The moms helped too!

Brady enjoyed his first strawberry ever which was picked by his brother.
(no bites were actually taken)

Sweet friends!

Luke spotted a kiwi inside the farmer's market.

Then- they both found the candy, but released it without a fight...
What a fun day!

Rodeo Time!

Last night we took Luke & his friend Madi to the Rodeo to see Brooks & Dunn. This is a pic of them with Luke's classic smile.

Madi had her hand on Luke's back like this for the longest time. It was so cute!

We had lots of fun, sadly, we did not go to the petting zoo... Long story :(

The kids had fun watching the rodeo and the singers. Next year we will make it to the petting zoo.

Seven Months Already?

Brady turned 7 months old today! WOW! The time really flies on the second baby. I can't believe how fast that went by.

Brady is not quite crawling yet, but I know it's just around the corner. He gets up on all fours and has even began rocking back & forth. He gets frustrated that he hasn't been able to figure out how to crawl yet. It will be here soon enough though.

Another thing he can now do is go from laying to sitting. It is so interesting to watch how he learns. I sometimes just watch when he is unaware that I am near. I am convinced that he tries new things when he is all alone. He can really focus more or something.

No teeth yet either, but my mom mentioned that she thinks one is coming through. He is constantly drooling and has been for a long time.

We moved him from stage one baby food to stage 2. There is so much more selection! It is fun to go pick new foods out for him. I stocked up last week because I was so excited for him to get to try new things. So far he is doing well with eating. The only thing he doesn't really care for is green beans. I am going to continue giving them to him though and maybe he will learn to like them.

That's it for our little "B-ball". Yep- that's still his nickname. I think it will stick. It may sound silly to some but it is special to Brady because his Bubba picked it for him. He knows that's his name too. Anytime we call him, he turns and looks.

Happy 1st Birthday Ford!

Ford eating his lunch before his first birthday cake.

Luke enjoyed his blue "hupcake".

My dear friend Amy and her precious little one year old. I can't believe how fast that year has flown by.

Today we celebrated Ford's 1st birthday at a park near Amy's house. We couldn't have asked for a better day to have a party in the park. It was beautiful! Luke had lots and lots of fun meeting some new friends and playing with Ford.

Luke's First Bracket

Tonight Caleb helped Luke fill out his first bracket for March Madness. Lets just put it this way if Luke knows what he's doing there will be A LOT of upsets this year...

It was so funny to hear him pronounce the names of the teams. With 20 picks left he said "Daddy I am finished with all the numbers".

Caleb kept him going until the whole bracket was complete and was so proud to hear Luke pick Duke over Texas! If he knows nothing else about this system, he needs to know that Duke should always beat Texas. We can rest assured that we have raised him right.

To top it all off, he has Duke winning it all.

Happy March Madness Everyone!

On All Fours...

Monday I stepped out of Brady's room for a minute and came back to this...
He has been practicing and I guess he finally figured out how to get up on all fours.

Fields Of Blue!

Here are some pics from our favorite bluebonnet patch. I have a lot of shadows, so I may try to go back later and try again. These were my favorites though.

Sick & Tired

Sick because he has caught some kind of aweful virus, cutting teeth, and starting to get a cold.

Tired because he can't sleep at all without me holding him.

So, we are ALL tired and ready to get past this. Both nights this weekend we spent up most all night. We are hoping better days & nights are just ahead!

The Bears Are Playing For The Big 12 Title Tonight!

In case you weren't watching last night...

The Bears beat Texas and play tonight for the Big 12 Title!

Sic Em Bears!
We were saying last night that we wish we had a Baylor flag to put out. We need to get one, but until then I will have one on our blog!

Buckaroo Ranch

Last weekend I worked on a new big boy room for Luke. I stayed up late Saturday night painting and after a few more days, I finally have it presentable. I was a little worried about his bed not being up against the wall, but this is the only decent way I could arrange the room. Now I just have to hope he won't fall out of bed at some point.

As for Luke, he loves his new room!
Next project... the guest bedroom.

Big Boy Bed

Let me hold back my tears as I write this post....

Last night was Luke's first night in his big boy bed. He did great- it was me that was up all night sad and worried he might fall out. We plan to redecorate his room this weekend so I will post pics once it's finished... For now- this is my baby...all grown up :(

Rodeo Day 2009

Yesterday at Luke's school was Rodeo Day. Everyone got all dressed in their best boots, jeans, and cowboy hats and headed to school! Yee Haw!

Luke with "Trooper"

Brady really liked "Benny" the best

Luke, Kaylee, & Emma

Today we went for pony rides for our neighbor Emma's birthday. The kids really enjoyed it- even Brady got in on the fun! Happy Birthday Emma!
